Noticeboard

FLU CLINICS 2020/21

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic our flu clinics this year will look very different.

  • Patients will be able to book a slot to have a drive through vaccination in their car.
  • Patients can also choose to be vaccinated inside the surgery.
  • These will take place mainly only on a Saturday to protect patients and staff.
  • Only the patient should attend unless they need a carer/parent.
  • A one way system will be operation and no other vaccines or procedures will be available.
  • If you arrive too early or late you may be asked to come back or rebook.
  • Patients who are shielding or housebound will be vaccinated in special clinics or at home.
  • Telephone to book your appointment on the following Saturdays starting at 9.30.
  • 26th  September 2020: Under 65’s in the at risk groups..
  • 3rd     October 2020: Over 65’s
  •  17th October: Children for the nasal vaccine and any other group subject to vaccine delivery

AVAILABILITY IS ONLY FOR PATIENTS WHO HAVE A BOOKED APPOINTMENT AND ARE ENTITILED TO A FREE NHS VACCINE

Please note that, if you are aged between 50 and 64 and not in a clinical at risk group, the earliest you will be offered a flu vaccination is November, providing there is sufficient vaccine.  No appointments will be offered for people in this age group until then. This is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first.  If you are aged 50 to 64 and are in a clinical ‘at risk’ group which is eligible for the flu vaccination, for example you have a health condition which puts you at risk from the flu, you will be invited earlier.

CHANGES TO ORDERING PRESCRIPTIONS

With effect from the 15th June 2020 the surgery will not take prescription requests over the telephone except for patients who have a prior arrangement with the practice or are currently shielding and in receipt of a shielding letter. Please use the on line service or post your repeat in the outside box.

FACE COVERINGS

As per the government guidelines, from Monday 15th June, all patients aged 3 or over visiting Gladstone Surgery will need to provide their own face covering to be worn at all times whilst inside the surgery. A cloth face covering should cover your mouth and nose while allowing you to breathe comfortably. It can be as simple as a scarf or bandana that ties behind the head.

CORONAVIRUS

We have taken the decision to close the doors at Chess Medical Centre to protect our patients and staff.

Only those patients that have been triaged will be asked to come down to the surgery at an allotted time.

Any routine appointments will now be by telephone in the first instance.

Routine telephone appointments booked with the nursing team will be triaged on the day.

Only the patient should attend, for children and those that need help only one parent or carer should attend. Please do not bring children to the surgery with you.

Our Reception team are struggling with the amount of phone calls so please use the government resources to get advice if you are worried.

Thank you for your help.

Appropriate Appointments

To better utilise our skill mix of clinicians our reception team have been trained to ask information about your problem to direct you to the most appropriate clinician. This may not always be a doctor and may be advice that can be obtained form your local pharmacy.

We welcome a new member of the reception team.
