FLU 2021

We are please to inform patients that we have received our first batch of flu vaccinations. We are currently booking for Saturday 16th October for patients over 65 or in our at risk groups. We will be putting on further clinics when we have confirmation of further deliveries and will be sending text messages out to those eligible. All clinics will by appointment only and those in the age group 50-64 who are not in the at risk group will be invited at a later stage.

Children aged 2-3 can be vaccinated, please call the surgery to book your child's appointment with the nurse.

COVID 19 Boosters

We are starting our Covid 19 Booster programme Saturday 9th October for patients who are over 80 and have had their 2nd vaccination more than 6 months ago. You will be contacted when we are doing further clinics but will ONLY invite those who have had an interval of 6 months between their 2nd Covid 19 vaccination.

DATA SHARING

From the 1st July 2021 we are required by law to share data from patient's clinical records with NHS digital under the General Practice Data for Planning and Research Drirections 2021. For more information, including how to opt-out of sharing your records, please see more here:

COVID 19 VACCINATION STATUS CERTIFICATE

We are unable to issue this certificate at the practice.

Please see https://www.gov.uk/guidance/demonstrating-your-covid-19-vaccination-status-when-travelling-abroad for further information.

Alternatively, you can call the NHS helpline on 119 (from 17 May) and ask for a letter to be posted to you. This must be at least 5 days after you’ve completed your course of the vaccine.  The letter may to take another 5 days to reach you, or more if postal services are affected.  Please take account of this when making your plans. 

 

 

Covid 19

FACE COVERINGS

As per government guidelines all health care settings where vulnerable patients may be visiting, all patients aged 10 or over visiting Gladstone Surgery will need to provide their own face covering to be worn at all times whilst inside the surgery. A cloth face covering should cover your mouth and nose while allowing you to breathe comfortably. It can be as simple as a scarf or bandana that ties behind the head.

Only those patients that have been triaged or have a face to face appointment should come to the surgery at their allotted time.

Only the patient should attend, for children and those that need help only one parent or carer should attend. Please do not bring children to the surgery with you.

Clinics & Servicespregnant_19

In addition to general medical consultations we are pleased to be able to provide specialist clinics and services covering the following areas:

  • ANTENATAL CLINICS - each doctor holds a regular antenatal clinic sharing your care with the community midwife and the maternity Unit.
  • ASTHMA CLINIC - our practice nurse runs an asthma clinic aiming to optimise your treatment so avoiding severe attacks.
  • DIABETIC CLINIC - run jointly by Dr Morrell and our practice nurse, along with the diabetes specialist nurses and the hospital diabetes clinic.
  • CHILD HEALTH CLINICS - child health vaccination clinics are run by the practice nurse every Thursday from 13:30 to 15:00. Appointments are sent out by Community Child Health.
  • WELL WOMAN CLINIC - our practice nurse holds Well Woman health checks by appointment, covering such topics as diet, weight, blood pressure, contraception, cervical screening and HRT. vaccination9
  • CRYOTHERAPY CLINIC - cryotherapy clinics are held monthly. We are able to treat most warts, veruccas and certain benign skin tags. Appointments can be made at reception once you have been advised by a clinician. (suspended due to Covid 19)
  • DIETICIAN - our community dietician can be seen by appointment through a doctor.
  • SEXUAL HEALTH - our doctors, clinical pharmacist and nurses are able to provide contraceptive counselling and general sexual health advice and screening, as well as emergency contraception.
  • FLU VACCINATION - available in the autumn to all patients over 65 years and those at risk due to heart, lung or immune disease.
  • TRAVEL VACCINATIONS - please request a travel form from reception as soon as you know where and when you are travelling. This enables our practice nurse to determine which vaccinations are required and to plan a schedule for you, usually beginning about 6 weeks before you travel.
  • HEALTH CHECKS - most patients aged 40 - 74 years are entitled to a FREE NHS health check - ask at reception to book yours today! 

 

 BREAST SCREENING:  If you are female, over 70 years old and would like to continue to be screened for breast cancer, please contact the screening office on 01494 425689 to arrange an appointment.
